Three Invaluable Lessons from Cloud Expo Just over a week ago I received a long and loud sustained applause for a presentation I delivered at this year's Cloud Expo in Santa Clara. I was extremely pleased with the turnout and had some very good conversations with many of the attendees. Over the next few days I had many more meaningful conversations and was not only happy with the results but also learned a few new things. Here is everything I learned in those three days distilled into three short points. When trade shows are not a waste of time I am not very aggressive by nature but my feeling of being a little pushy is directly related to the situation I am put into. Price wars, advanced offerings, upsells and what not are the usual tactics that have been used, but now competing forces are pressuring data center providers to go beyond the usual and utilize something new. Data center businesses are now relying more and more on leveraging strategic footprints, global presence and larger capabilities to educate and work with customers at a local level. In the United States alone, there are an estimated 3 mil... (more)

Cloud Computing: A Quick Primer

"The cloud will transform everything about technology." This statement is better suited for 20 years ago when the cloud was in its infancy. Who Is on the Cloud? The cloud is the focus of every large technology vendor that we know of. The usua... (more)
